Planners of Color for Social Equity (PCSE) is a UCLA graduate student organization, established and active since 1992. The group was born out the recognition of the little space for the ideas and practice that reflected the experiences of planners of color and the low-income marginalized communities they serve. PCSE strives to fight for social justice in the streets and build a foundation for “revolutionary” planning in academia. As PCSE enters the 21st century it is critical to maintain and preserve hard fought victories for the inclusion of marginalized voices and remain vigilant that progressive policymaking and critical thinking is not undermined or eroded. PCSE will uphold the social justice mission and goals of the newly branded UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs and the Urban Planning Program. PCSE hopes to foster the growth of planners that will institutionalize equality and social justice for all people.
